Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
My name is Gloria Basden. I am a Science/Chemistry Teacher with National Board Certification and a Masters in Applied Geography. My thesis is about the Ethnobiology Of the Mescalero Apache. My interests in plants lead me to Unesco's Doguibogam Festival in Sancheong, South Korea. Here I learned more about the 16th Century physician Heo Jun. Part of his philosophy was that people should become familiar with health plants and have access to herbals for improving their health. Here I sit with my Korean friends Park Jaekyung and Pyeongryeol Yeom, at the Festival, sitting in a herbal house. These houses were used to dry and store herbs for community use, for any community member and their health concerns.

About
Wasong has been approved by the FDA for use in the United States and has been suggested in USDA growing zones 4a-8b for agriculturalists. I grow Wasong in zone 8b and take Wasong daily (since January 2024) as a preventative. It is a pleasant food and quite possibly helps prevent cancer. This a concern as I have lost immediate family members and have others who currently have cancer. Of course I also avoid toxins and lead a healthy lifestyle as well. Please join me and "Be strong with Wasong!"

Our Goals
We sell Wasong in biodegradable pouch bags. We support the testimonial and vision of Lee Chun-hwa, one of the first farmers to cultivate Orostachys Japonica. Lee Chun-hwa was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2006. A friend mentioned Wasong to her and she started taking it 4 times a day. She began to gain weight and to regain her appetite. She then started selling shakes with Wasong and yogurt as the 2 ingredients at farmers markets and along with selling the plants. After 2 years she went back to her doctor for another Cat scan and discovered that her 12 tumors, one of which was 4 cm in diameter, were gone. She and her family run a thriving Wasong farm in the mountains. Her husband is also the CEO of the Wasong Cooperative of 80 other Wasong farms.
